Dhaka: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Friday forecasted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in different parts of the country over the next 24 hours, starting Friday morning.
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions, and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions," said the BMD forecast.
A trough of low pressure lies over West Bengal to the North Bay, across the southwestern part of Bangladesh.
The southwest monsoon has advanced up to the Akyab coast of Myanmar, and conditions are favorable for its further advancement.
A low-pressure area is likely to form over the west-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal around Tuesday.
Daytime temperatures may rise slightly, while night-time temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.
The country’s highest temperature on Thursday was recorded at 35.8°C in Kumarkhali, while the lowest temperature on Friday was 22.9°C in Sylhet.
The highest recorded rainfall in the last 24 hours until 6am on Friday was 81mm in Bandarban.
The sun will set in the capital at 6:38pm on Friday and rise at 5:12am on Saturday.
